Person-Centred Therapy
I specialise in Person-Centred Therapy. Below is some information about this approach and how it may be helpful for you.
What is Person-Centred Therapy?
Person-Centred Therapy is a Humanistic approach, developed by Carl Rogers a prominent psychologist. He believed that, given the right environment, every person has an innate capacity for growth, healing from past experiences and a deeper self-understanding (Self Awareness), enabling them to move towards their full potential.
This approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when a person feels genuinely heard, accepted, and understood.
At the heart of Person-Centred Therapy is self-awareness. As we begin to notice our feelings, patterns, and inner experiences more clearly, we can start to understand ourselves on a deeper level and relate to our experiences with greater compassion.
Person-Centred therapy is built upon three core conditions:
1. Empathy
I aim to understand how things feel from your perspective, to see the world through your eyes, without judgement. This is about deeply hearing you, not simply listening.
2. Unconditional Positive Regard
You are accepted exactly as you are. You don’t have to prove anything, impress anyone, or hide parts of yourself. This is a space of genuine acceptance, respect and care.
3. Congruence
I bring my real self into the therapy room. I am present, honest, and authentic, rather than hidden behind a professional mask. This openness helps build trust and emotional safety.
Together, these three conditions create a therapeutic relationship where you can explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.

Will you give me solutions?
I won’t offer a checklist or tell you how to “fix” yourself.
Instead, I will support you in reflecting, unpacking ‘what’s going on’ and connecting more deeply with your own thoughts and feelings.
As humans, our clarity and confidence often grow naturally when we are given space to feel fully heard and accepted.
That said, we can explore choices, options and possible solutions together, if that is something you would like to focus on.

Why is increasing Self-Awareness important?
Increasing self-awareness is important because it helps you understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours more clearly. When you have a deeper understanding of what’s happening within you, it becomes easier to make choices that align with your values.
Greater self-awareness can help you identify what you may want to change, as well as recognise patterns or beliefs that may be holding you back.
This creates a foundation for authentic personal growth, change that comes from within, rather than being imposed by others or shaped by external expectations (friends, family and social norms).
Self awareness creates the space to choose new ways of thinking or behaving that feel more true to who you are.

What makes ‘Person-Centred Therapy’ different from other therapies?
Everyone is an individual and experiences life through their own unique lenses. Even people who share the same environment or experiences can be affected in very different ways.
Because of this, a one-size-fits-all approach is rarely helpful in therapy.
Person-Centred Therapy recognises and respects individuality, focusing on YOU, as a unique person with your own experiences, feelings, and needs.
